Two Repi’s PET UV absorbers receive RecyClass Recyclability Approval

Repi’s UV absorber formulations ‘REMAP 00395’ and ‘REMAP 00561’ received a RecyClass Recyclability Approval.

Independent testing was carried out by the Institut für Kunststofftechnologie und -recycling e. V. (IKTR), following the RecyClass Recyclability Evaluation Protocol for PET bottles[1]. The results showed no adverse effects on the recycling process, confirming their compatibility with state-of-the-art PET recycling processes in Europe. Specifically, the approval is valid as long as the amount of additive used does not exceed 0.15 wt % of the total weight of the packaging.

This approval enhances the scientific understanding of PET bottle recyclability and confirms that these additives, which serve to protect PET bottles and their contents from the degradation effects of light and UV radiation, do not cause yellowing after recycling. This ensures the high quality of recycled PET, making it perfectly suited for clear, transparent bottle applications and reinforcing its value in circular packaging solutions.

RecyClass Recyclability Approvals

RecyClass issues two types of Recyclability Approvals – Technology Approvals and Product Approvals. These are issued upon conducted testing in accordance with one of the established Recyclability Evaluation Protocols. Testing results are incorporated in the RecyClass Design for Recycling Guidelines and the Online Tool. The full list of approved Technologies and Products can be found on the RecyClass website.
